Information Risk Group was established in 1997. It is a specialized information technology security consulting company. Information Risk Group (IRG) is the Information Technology security service provider for the Lloyds of London e-Comprehensive IT Security insurance policy. IRG's proprietary security architecture has been used to assess and reengineer the IT security controls for many Fortune 100 Companies.
John Spain, Ph.D, CMAS, CPP is the President and Chief Operating Officer for Information Risk Group He is a past American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) Senior Vice President and a member of the Information Technology Security Council, a council he chaired for five years. He has a Ph.D. in Administration and Management with a dissertation focusing on Corporate Risk Modeling and countervails to mitigate threats and vulnerabilities associated with security risk. John is a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and a Certified Master Anti-Terrorism Specialist (CMAS). He has spoken nationally and internationally on computer security, loss control and risk management. John has more than 30 years experience in Industrial Security, Operational and Systems auditing, Information Systems Security and Risk Management.
He was responsible for the identification and successful prosecution of members of the “Legion of Doom”, an infamous Hacker organization responsible for significant abuse to a number of Fortune 50 companies. John also developed a four level, information security protocol to standardized and facilitate security review for applicants of the e-comprehensive insurance product provided by Lloyds of London. He has developed solutions at all levels to assess and mitigate organizational risk created from the vulnerabilities and threats associated with the modern, technology-driven corporate environment.
John has developed and managed Corporate Compliance programs based on HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley, GLBA and other domestic and global laws and regulations dealing with security and information management.
